May Bank Holiday – Falling Over in a Cave & a Pink Gin Picnic in the Park

Happy belated bank holiday all! I hope you enjoyed the sun (which is quite rare for us in the UK) and the nice long weekend. If you’re anything like me, you’re counting down the days until the next one. I’ve been playing around with a few ideas for my upcoming blogposts and I thought I’d share a few snaps from the bank holiday weekend, as I actually had plans!

Fiancé on babysitting duties

Kitten

This was my first weekend away from Milo. I left him in the capable hands of my fiancé. I felt quite sad if I’m honest and missed him the whole weekend I was away. I imagine this is what mum’s feel like when they spend time away from their babies.

The Blue John Cavern

My mum, my sister, my dog and I went for a little adventure into the caves of Blue John Cavern. The family yorkie turned 10 last week so of course we brought him with us for a birthday treat (dogs are allowed on this tour). Throughout this tour, I genuinely felt like I was on the set of The Goonies – it was brilliant.

The steps in the cave were quite slippy and our tour guide did make several efforts to relay this to us all. For those considering a similar trip, I would advise against wearing Vans as they don’t have the best grip. I should know, as I slipped down three steps and landed on my bum. I would be a rubbish goonie.

Despite my close encounter with death, I really enjoyed the tour and there were lots of cracking photo opportunities.

Picnic in the park

Lyme Park waterfall

The weather was so gorgeous last weekend that we decided to go for a picnic in Lyme park. Thankfully there were no falls like my trip to the cave. My yorkie did however, go for a wander on his own to visit the sheep.

Lyme Park is so beautiful. I didn’t go to see the house or the gardens, but I’ll definitely be stopping by on my next visit. It’s great for dogs, the endless fields kept my yorkie busy for a good few hours.

We had a lovely picnic and ate way too much, this is sort of a tradition for bank holiday get togethers. My favourite thing about the picnic was the Gordon’s pink gin. There is something about pink drinks that make them extra special. I feel like this will definitely be my summer tipple this year!

Late May Bank Holiday

I’m really looking forward to the next May Bank Holiday, my fiancé and I are off to the seaside for a wedding! I do love a good wedding (and cake). In the meantime, if you have any Bank Holiday blogs, feel free to share them and leave a link in the comments so I can give them a read🙂
