I bought my pumpkin for Halloween last night and it got me thinking about what I want to carve on it this year. My attempts are always quite simplistic and I feel like I need to challenge myself this time. Naturally, I’ve created a Pinterest board to give myself a bit of inspiration and something to work towards. I thought it would be nice to share my favourite top five pins with you, just in case you’d like to have a go yourself or need something to steer you in the right direction.
1. The Kitten
I absolutely love this! I’m actually more of a dog person but cats are a very strong contender (and I really need a kitten in my life). What I like about this particular design, is how lovely the silhouette looks with the light from the glowing candle. I am a big fan of anything and everything cosy and you can’t go wrong with kittens on Halloween.
Now, this design would be incredibly difficult to attempt. I’m not sure I have the skill or patience to try this, however I think it’s extremely creative and a head turner for trick or treaters. BB8 is also quite cute so I can’t help but smile when I look at this.
3. I am Groot
If you haven’t seen Guardians of the Galaxy, you need to watch it, even if it’s just for Groot alone. This particular reference is from the second film but you need to watch the first for his back story. Again, it’s another cute idea and not particularly spooky, but it oozes talent and is very impressive!
4. The Classic Skeleton
How could I not include a skeleton? If you’ve read my previous Halloween blog post, you’ll know that I’m going as a skeleton this year so I felt this choice was a necessity. It also reminds me of Funnybones which I used to watch as a child. Does anyone remember that programme based on the books by Allan and Janet Alberg?
5. The Nightmare Before Christmas
This actually used to freak me out a little as a child but I still watched the film a fair few times regardless. This is a mix of Halloween and Christmas, as well as being a classic film. I’m starting to understand why I have a lot of nightmares as an adult.
My Halloween pumpkin carving challenge
I’ll be attempting one of my top five pins chosen so let me know in the comments if you would like to see how it turns out. Equally, if you’ve created some artistic attempts yourself that you’d like to share, I would love to see them 🙂
